UV-SL

We refer to this wine as the “chameleon,” as it evolves and morphs in each glass.  The combination of climate, soil, and rare clones planted at UV-SL produce kaleidoscopic, site-driven nuances.

Mark Aubert’s Tasting Notes

The 2022 UV-SL Chardonnay is dense and lively, with effusive aromas of bosc galette, lime leaf, and candied green apple. The high altitude, far-coastal nature of the vineyard is reflected in the taught citron and sea spray aromatics and nervy minerality and acidity at the core of the wine. These fresh elements juxtapose the natural density and richness of the vintage, carrying the wine across its long, persistent finish. The purity and length of its composition will effortlessly carry the wine in the cellar for the coming 10 to 15 years. The wine is slightly hazy showing our commitment to minimal intervention winemaking.

UV-SL

Our most masculine Pinot Noir, the UV-SL, is opulent in color, reflecting a tangible fullness across the palate. The vineyard’s proximity to the ocean is deceptive, as the notably warm climate allows the grapes to reach our optimal ripeness.

Mark Aubert’s Tasting Notes

2021 UV-SL Pinot Noir is dense, brooding, and inky. Mulberry, black cherry compote, and hoisin sit atop a resinous herbal character indicative of the chapparal terroir delimiting the vineyard site. This wine is the epitome of balance between power and vibrant minerality. Layers of fine-grained tannin and bright acidity form a chiseled structure that supports the ultra-concentrated flavor and aroma. Inviting now, this wine will continue to reveal its greatness for many years to come. Suggested drinking window is 2024 through 2040.
