2023 Hudson Vineyard Carneros Chardonnay
The Hudson Vineyard runs along a northern stretch of Carneros soils that are thin and rocky. As a result, these old vines struggle to produce even the most modest of crops. After a long, 10 year wait to join the Hudson fraternity, we are pleased to be working with a grower who shares with us a common vision and dedication to quality. It was worth the wait.
Mark Aubert’s Tasting Notes
The 2023 Hudson Chardonnay erupts in a mélange of yellow floral and savory soil-driven elements that emanate from this classic Carneros site. The wine is replete with complex notes of sweet alyssum, beeswax, and apple oil. Texturally, the wine is long and satin, with a luscious blend of white peach, marmalade, and wildflower honey offset by slaty mineral tones. Deep, concentrated stone fruit richness is countered by a fine bead of mouthwatering acidity that creates compelling structural tension. A wine of incredible breadth, the 2023 Hudson Chardonnay is absolutely enveloping and promises a long life in the cellar.
